CLOUDS FORMING CROWNS was formed in 2004, when Tim Tobias began writing songs after having spent a few years as a bass player with indie rock pioneers GUIDED BY VOICES. With the help of his brother, music producer Todd Tobias, Tim's cassette 4-track demos became fully realized songs. Apart from the recording duo of the Tobias brothers, Tim also put together a CLOUDS FORMING CROWNS live unit.
